jazz Originally a Marina, the Boathouse expanded on this theme for its decor and added many nautical design components to the building. Outside, the large neon sign featured a boat anchor and blue waves. Inside, fish and aquatic plant murals were painted on the walls, giving patrons the feeling they were underwater. Topping this off was a boat hull hanging from the ceiling, giving the impression you were looking up at it from underwater. Jazz music was the entertainment choice in the fifties and the Boathouse featured some of the best Jazz musicians in Columbus.
